Yet Another Bookish Blog

Bookish Thirst Logo

You guessed it! Another book review blog. But what makes this one different?

About me

I’d better introduce myself before we go any further. My name is Anna, I am 26 and I live in Lincolnshire (UK) with my two whippets. Sounds pretty boring when you put it like that…

To add some actual ‘credentials’ to this blog, I studied creative writing from college through to university but I have always been a book worm. Recently, I have dusted off the old kindle and really immersed myself back between the pages, starting my own little book club amongst friends (though they often complain that I read far too quickly).

I read and write a lot during my day job as an SEO Marketing Executive; I won’t bore you with the details, but in a nutshell I work on various clients’ websites writing and editing content for search engines. This means that I get to read, write and edit content for a lot of different audiences and industries – you have to love reading to do this job!

Why start a book blog?

There are so many ways to answer this, and I am genuinely not expecting many people to read my reviews, but I think the main reason for me starting this blog is to write down and organise my thoughts on many of the books I read. I am a lover of a good series, but sometimes it is so difficult to unpack everything that is happening in these books, both individually and as a whole series. This blog (hopefully) will give me the opportunity to do that.

As mentioned previously, I am also a super fast reader. This is not always a good thing, I often don’t digest key information and find that bites me in the behind later on in a series (or even within a just one book). Hopefully, by making some notes here, I can avoid this a little!

I am not afraid to read something new, niche or unpopular. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good BookTok hype and I am a sucker for adding everything I see to my TBR, but I also like to discover new authors and share my thoughts on them – everyone has to start somewhere and I hope someone would do the same for me if I ever manage to publish my own work.

What kind of books will I be reviewing?

It would be easy for me to say ‘everything’, but I’ll be completely honest and say that I do have my favourite genres, and it is likely that there will be a common theme in the books that I review. Fantasy, dark romance and historical fiction are likely to be the most popular.

What will be the style of this blog?

For want-of-a-better-phrase, I suppose you can liken the style to ‘stream-of-consciousness’. My brain works at a ridiculous speed, and my informal writing follows this style. I want this blog to be a very relaxed place, without the need to come across as a literary genius; just like talking about a book amongst friends.

I suppose I ought to go read some books then!

Anna x
